"Kudos to first-time author Loren Stone for her insightful presentation of dykes raised in conservative, faith-based communities."
Books to Watch Out For, Volume 3, No. 1
". . . an extreme version of what we see frequently:conservatives who claim to just want their beliefs respected, but think its ok to treat the GLBTI community horribly.... an interesting book dealing with some serious topics. I would recommend reading it."
The Missoula Gayzette, April 2006
". . . a wonderful tapestry . . . Stone goes way beyond telling you a story, and brings you into ... Jax's world, where you, too, can see, hear, smell, touch and even taste what is going on. And, more than that ... the plot twists, are exceptional. You just don't see it coming, even to the last page."
Family and Friends Magazine, Memphis Tennessee
"Steeped in theological arguments and astute social commentary . . . as much a story of a taboo love triangle as diametrically opposed ideologies..."

Bait - A Novel
A story of love and loyalty in a family full of contradictions and conflict.
When Danny Madigan, an evangelical, fundamentalist Christian bachelor from Pennsylvania Dutch country introduces his girlfriend, Jenn, to his urban lesbian feminist sister who's living in Center City Philadelphia, JD (he calls her "Jax"), he thinks he's found the perfect way to draw his sister back into the family fold. Raised staunchly conservative Christian by her evangelical fundamentalist parents, Jax has been steering clear of her family's judgments for nearly twenty years. It's been more than ten years since she's set foot inside her parents' house.
But suddenly, Danny has a way to lure Jax back to Sunday dinner, when the Madigan family deepens their bonds with home-cooked food and Christian fellowship. Jax has no use for her family's theology, but Jenn is a beautiful, articulate, intelligent woman -- just the kind of person Danny admires, and just the sort of woman Jax desires. Overlooking the dangers of drawing the two women together, Danny pushes the envelope of their friendship. And as Jax discovers there's more to Jenn than meets Danny's eye, Jenn's hidden past and secretive present test Jax's loyalty to her brother, her patience with her parents, and her willingness to put aside her personal feelings for the sake of her family.
As the players in this drama cast their lures into the water of family dynamics, they each find that the ones they're baiting, have a few tricks up their own sleeves. And as the intricate webs of confidence, loyalty, duplicity, and subtle betrayal entangle the brother, sister and the woman who wants them both, they each learn that even the most enduring love has its limits.
When family, faith and desire collide, even the most careful of souls can get caught.
